On May 11th, 2004, the Joy of Sports Foundation (JSF) along with Golf Exposure (GX) will host its 1st Annual "Reserved for Title Sponsor Two Man Golf Challenge" at Cross Creek Golf Club in Beltsville, MD. Proceeds from this event will go to benefit JSF and GX. This event plans to attract over 200 area professionals, political figures, athletes and celebrity guests, including this year's host WUSA 9 Anchor, Derek
McGinty.
The Joy of Sports Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. Its mission is to use sports and education to teach at risk children critical life success skills that will enable them to grow healthy in body, mind and spirit. More than 25,000 children nationwide have already benefited from the uniquely effective tennis, soccer, and physical play programs developed by JSF. JSF programs have been recognized as model programs by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, the United States Tennis Association, the ATP Tour, the Points of Light Foundation, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Through our work in schools, after school programs, childcare centers and other youth serving organizations, JSF is harnessing the power of sports and play to enrich the lives of at-risk children.
Golf Exposure (GX) is also a 501(c)(3) , non-profit organization that uses the game of golf as the vehicle for reaching youth. GX's mission is to promote education, delinquency prevention and humanitarianism to underserved youth via the game of golf. GX uses many programs to reach this distracted audience including a Scholastic Golf Academy, and a year round Saturday after school program. GX also offers a summer camp and a host of tournaments that offer quality exposure to competitive golf, aimed at developing these youth for college golf scholarships. GX believes that once they have the child's attention, they can move towards improving the "whole child" athletically, academically, socially and emotionally.
The Joy of Sports Foundation and Golf Exposure are excited about hosting this wonderful event to benefit area youth.
