It is indeed gratifying to share with the public the notion that Golf Exposure (GX) Incorporated is laying the foundation for an operation that will impact the lives of young people for years to come. Many of us had the good fortune of growing up in the molasses age. But our youth of tomorrow are coming through a nanosecond period. For half a decade now, Mr. Byron T. Harper, and his dedicated staff have been making a way out of no way for deserving young ladies and men in our society. I know from experience that this is not easy.
Golf Exposure, the firm that golf built, is on its way because of the many adults across the country that have seen fit to give their time, money, expertise, and love. On behalf of the Golf Exposure Board of Directors I thank you profusely. Mr. Harper, dedicated staff, and volunteers, we thank you also for caring about our future, the young ladies and men of tomorrow. We are grateful for the instructors who man the learning center each Saturday morning without fail, especially Ms Bernadette Fair, Mr. Ed Bentley, and Mr. Daniel Scott. A special thanks goes out to Coach Raymond Gladden, and Mr. Rodney
Lathern, the very able golf instructors associated with Golf Exposure.
I must say the chance for the winners of the GX s Junior Master s tournament to go to the Grand Bahamas Island and compete against the junior golfers there, truly was a treat for all involved. The tournament was held at the Langston Legacy Golf Course in Washington, D.C., and is managed by Mr. Jimmy Garvin. This opportunity was made available for youngsters who perhaps had never been on an airplane, let alone travel internationally. They earned the right to participate, and it did not cost them a dime for this fantastic experience. I thank all of the powers that be for making it happen.
We thank our numerous volunteers, sponsors and supporters, but we must give a special thank you to the Georgetown Preparatory School in Bethesda, Maryland for granting Golf Exposure access to their outstanding facilities for as long as they have.
As we move forward, pursuing Mr. Byron T. Harper's dream of providing a residential site for the youngsters selected to be in the program, we continue to seek benevolence in every quarter for this dream to come to fruition. GX has the expertise and know how; we need the resources and the space to make a measurable difference in the lives of young people, that s all young people.
We recognize that our society is changing before our very eyes; at a rate never witnessed before now, much of what we knew or thought we knew is changing. We can only imagine how the change affects our youth. I feel that GX is on the cutting edge of preparing our youth for a new world. You see GX focuses not just on golf but survival itself. The game of golf is a life lesson to be learned every time you play a round.
We look forward to our fifth year being a banner one for Golf Exposure in 2004. The Board will do all it can to see to it that the youth receive the best possible experiences. I call upon each of you who visit this site to donate, if you will, to GX s effort to decrease the number of statistics.
